This city tour in Santiago will allow you to discover a city with strong cultural contrasts exemplified by the varied architecture of both past and present in historical buildings, monuments, museums, theatres and open areas. The City tour in Santiago starts with a visit to the San Francisco Church - built in the 16th century, this church is the oldest architectonic expression of the capital city for being constructed shortly after the death of its founders. After the San Francisco Church, we will visit the Government Palace, or "La Moneda" as well as the “Plaza de Armas” (main square) and some national monuments such as the Central Post Office and the City Hall of Santiago.
The trip continues towards Santa Lucia Hill, the place where Pedro de Valdivia founded the city in 1541, and San Cristobal Hill. Finally, after crossing the Mapocho River we will be visiting different residential neighborhoods. One such neighborhood is called Bellavista and during our visit we will see “La Chascona", the house that the famous poet Pablo Neruda built for his lover and then third wife, doña Matilde Urrutia. This house gives you a glimpse into the unique world where the remarkable Nobel Prize of Literature recipient used to live. At the end of the tour, our tour guide will drop you off at the Marriot Hotel.
Our expert tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to invite you to an exciting and private tour of Viña del Mar and Valpariso. We will depart from Santiago and head to the Pacific coast, crossing through the Coast Mountain Range and the Casablanca and Curacavi Valleys.
We will visit first Valparaiso City, where the main commercial port and the Congress of Chile are located. During the tour we will see the multicolored houses on the hills, the parks and the diverse historic monuments as well as typical bars and restaurants that make this city a bohemian center by night.
We will next visit La Sebastiana, one of the houses of the Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda that today is classified as a museum. After a small break to enjoy the surroundings, we will head to our next destination. Our next stop is Viña del Mar, also known as the Garden City, thanks to its numerous parks and nice gardens. Located within Vina del Mar, we will stop at the Casino of Valparaiso, a building which reflects the aristocratic character that the city's founder, Jose Francisco Vergara, tried to give this city.
The tour continues to Renaca, a place known for its extended beach area and as one of the most exclusive places in the central coast of Chile, with its prestigious restaurants and modern buildings. We will enjoy lunch (included in the price of the tour) among these buildings in Renaca, and afterwards end the tour back at the Marriot Santiago.
