Luxury restaurants in Buenos Aires

In the city of Buenos Aires, there are more than 4,500 restaurants, with proposals for all tastes and budgets … But food critics claim that “really upscale places there are very few”.
To find out, the NATION designed a luxury gourmet tour, in the opinion of five specialists in the culinary arts: Alicia Delgado, Fernando Vidal Buzzi, Miguel Brascó, Sheng Yu and Ernesto Oldenburg. And critics voting the following top ten emerged.
How much to eat in one of these rooms? Who’s frequent? What are these ten places to be the most exclusive in the city? According to experts, not only it is a good kitchen …

Volume I: no laps. For critics, here is the best food or the best cook. “The sisters Ada and Ebe Concaro continue to astonish with their proposal. A kitchen refined tastes and exceptional performance,” says Yu Sheng.
Ada says Concaro, commanding the restaurant for 36 years: “Our cuisine is true to our culture, with well porteña identity.” Commanding the room is Federico Fialayre son of Ada, an expert sommelier recommended a perfect pairing between dish and wine. Every Tuesday in March, a special menu with dishes outside menu.

La Bourgogne: an icon of French cuisine in the most traditional hotel in Buenos Aires, the Alvear Palace, experts say. Care and service are impeccable, and every detail is supervised by chef Jean-Paul Bondeaux. “Until we choose flowers for centerpieces,” he says.
Businessmen, foreigners and lovers of good life, high purchasing power, frequently visit. There you can eat, for example, a fresh caviar Ossetra 820 pesos. A detail: when a gentleman requested, no letter unpriced for the ladies.

Oviedo: “The House of Emilio Garip offering a quality menu with interesting news and professional service,” says in his gastronomic guide Fernando Vidal Buzzi. The specialty of the kitchen by chef Martin Rebaulino, are fish and seafood, made with fresh produce that it is responsible for selecting Garip. “Perhaps one of the best Argentine wineries, with a very good collection of Spanish wines,” says Alicia Delgado.

Casa Cruz: he opened three years ago and is the Buenos Aires trendy restaurant par excellence. At this point, no dissents. Fashion, glamorous and with a theatrical environment. “I wanted to make this place an extension of my lifestyle,” says its owner, Juan Santa Cruz.
Although the remarkable German Martitegui is leading the kitchen, critics say that Casa Cruz is not exclusive for its cuisine. “It is for its aesthetics, its New York-style, by famous models who visit and its concept” sums Yu Sheng. The best: the drinks bar designed by Ines de los Santos.

Duhau Restaurante and wine bar:  Elegant and super luxurious. So much so that if a customer forgot glasses, the waiter will offer a tray with a selection of Cartier glasses, gold and crystals of different graduation so you can read the menu. According to Vidal Buzzi, its cuisine, by chef Rafael Martínez Casas, is well achieved. But the difference makes the dessert menu, which, they say, has no equal. “The pastry chef Ilhame Guerrah creates wonders with fruits, chocolates and creams. Unmissable Delicias” says Yu Sheng.

Maat Private Club Gourmet: only three visits allowed for those who are not members of this private club in Belgrano, which opened in November 2005 in a hotel petit of Sucre street in Belgrano. “The house has been renovated flawlessly. Very good bar and kitchen, in the hands of chef Rodrigo Guinzuk” says Vidal Buzzi in its guide. The letter, bounded but very sophisticated, and mineral water, Italian. The regulation requires reservations: punctuality, minimum age of 18, fancy dress sport and cell phones in vibrate mode is required.

Restó: an intimate redoubt in the Central Society of Architects. With only 30 seats, there is usually a waiting list for the night. The setting is simple; predominantly white, with touches of wood. At noon it is very busy lawyers, architects and knowledgeable site visit it daily.
With young chef Guido Tassi front, the dishes are characterized by the presence of non-traditional edible flowers and vegetables. “It’s like eating in a small remnant of Paris, but in Buenos Aires,” sums Yu Sheng.

Sucre: with a proposal for signature cuisine by Fernando Troca and Gonzalo Sacot, the place is always packed and is visited by tourists. “The bar is one of its successes,” says Alicia Delgado.
The best? “The Quebracho wood-burning rotisserie, where you can find a variety of meats. The wine is serious and comprehensive” adds Miguel Brascó.
There are more than 420 labels in a letter, and you can get a good red wine for 40 pesos. But there are exceptions.
“Last week we sold our most expensive wine. A Château Margaux was a very good price,” says the sommelier Ignacio Diaz Aguirre. By the bottle, a Brazilian tourist paid 2400 pesos argetinos.

Chila: the best proposal Puerto Madero has a feminine touch. The chef Soledad Nardelli is in charge of a cuisine “with French-inspired” as she defines. “It’s a big and very nice place, overlooking the dam and well lit,” describes Miguel Brascó.
“Ravioli of crab, clams or sea bream with black risotto with seafood and cuttlefish ink. Dishes make your mouth water,” Yu Sheng graphics. The audience are young entrepreneurs habitué good purchasing power, and too many tourists. The music, on the right level, does not interrupt the conversation.

Yuki: no fashion or glamorous. Japanese cuisine for discerning. Outside the gastronomic fashion circuits, it is considered the most traditional Japanese restaurants. Yuki recommend Teishoku taste, composed of seven dishes. “The food is excellent, and the decor changes color with the seasons,” recalls Alicia Delgado. “If you can, book the tatami. He will live a unique experience, eating on the floor, barefoot and with a more than polite attention,” advises Vidal Buzzi.
