Puerto Madero

Located next to the Rio de la Plata, Puerto Madero is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of the city and it makes a very pleasant environment to walk and dine on the terraces of its many restaurants. It is also a great place to have lunch after taking a city tour in Buenos Aires.

Since the founding of Buenos Aires there have always been problems for the arrival of large ships to the shores of the city due to the shallow depth of the river. In 1882 the government contracted Eduardo Madero for the construction of a new port that would provide a modern image to the city.

Recoleta

Recoleta is a central residential neighborhood of Buenos Aires that has a great interest both historical and architectural. It differs from the other neighborhoods of Buenos Aires by the quality of its architecture and the aristocratic character of its residences, surrounded by splendid gardens and squares.
The birth of the neighborhood of Recoleta
The Recoleta neighborhood has its origin in the Franciscan Order of the Convent of the Recoletos that was established in the area at the beginning of the XVIII century. The monks created a convent, a cemetery and the Church of Our Lady of Pilar.
At the end of the 19th century, the yellow fever epidemic attracted wealthier families to the neighborhood, which was one of the highest and safest spots in the city. From that moment the neighborhood became one of the most elegant and expensive places of Buenos Aires.

What to see in Recoleta
The neighborhood stands out for its historical monuments and its great cultural spaces, among which are the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Recoleta Cultural Center and the National Library.

The history of Palermo began a few years after the arrival of the Spaniards. In 1590 these lands were bought by an Italian named Juan Domingo Palermo, who set up a farm where he dedicated himself to agriculture.

Palermo Soho

This area of the neighborhood is called Palermo Hollywood because numerous film, publicity and television production companies set up their offices. At night Palermo Hollywood is very lively, as the area has many bars, clubs and fashion sites where many young people attend.

Palermo Chico
Address: Av. Del Libertador, between Salguero and Judge Tedín
The layout of Palermo Chico was made by the French architect Carlos Thays, the same one that designed the Woods of Palermo in 1912. The intention was to create a Neighborhood Park with curved and irregular streets and with many plants and typical trees like tipas, jacarandás, lapachos And ceibos.

Forests of Palermo

The Bosques de Palermo is a green area of more than 80 hectares. The Forests are formed by different parks such as the Japanese Garden, Botanical Garden, Zoo, regatta lake, Municipal Golf Club, Planetarium and Tres de Febrero Park. In this last park is the famous Rosedal (with more than 18 thousand roses of 1100 species of roses), the Patio Andaluz and the Garden of the Poets.
