Three days at the Amerian Portal del Iguazú

The hotel stands a few steps from the Three Borders Landmark, looking out over the point where the Iguazú and the Paraná meet and three countries face one another. The falls are fifteen kilometres away.

The spa, and the window over the river

The spa looks straight out over the Iguazú, and the seats face the water rather than the room. After a full day on the walkways, this is where the afternoon ends.

Above the meeting of two rivers

From the air you can see what the address means: the hotel sits on the bluff where the Iguazú runs into the Paraná, with Brazil on one bank and Paraguay on the other.

Breakfast with the river below

Breakfast is included on both mornings, and it is worth taking it slowly. The dining room looks out over the water, and the light at that hour is the best of the day. Beyond the two pools there is a gym, a tennis court and a football pitch, and Wi-Fi throughout.

Questions travellers ask us

Are the national park entrance fees included?

No, and we prefer to say so plainly: the entrance fees on the Argentine side and on the Brazilian side are paid at each gate, by you, on the day. Everything else on this page is arranged and settled before you arrive, so there is nothing else to deal with while you are there.

Do we really see both sides of the falls?

Yes. A full day on the Argentine side, where the walkways take you among the falls, and a half day on the Brazilian side, which is where you stand back and see the whole thing at once. Both are private, with your own guide and vehicle.

Which of the three hotels should we choose?

It depends on what you want the evenings to be. The Meliá is the only one inside the national park, so you are at the walkways before and after everyone else. The Amerian looks out over the meeting of the Iguazú and the Paraná, with three countries in view. The Loi Suites is built through the Iryapú jungle and is the quietest of the three. We are happy to talk it through with you.

Can we stay longer, or add something?

Of course. The Gran Aventura boat ride under the falls is the one most people ask about, and a third night turns the second day into an unhurried one. Tell us and we build it in.
